Check that Microsoft's Dial-Up Networking is installed. 1.1. Double click on the "MY COMPUTER" icon on the Window's 95 desktop. 1.2. Does a folder appear called "DIAL-UP NETWORKING" along with your C:\ drive etc.? 1.3. If not, then you need to install Microsoft's Dial-Up Networking. 1.4. This package is often installed during the installation of Window's 95. Some users elect not to do so. 2. Installing Dial-Up Networking. 2.1. If "DIAL-UP NETWORKING" is not installed, you need to invoke Microsoft's "ADD / REMOVE PROGRAMMES". 2.2. Double click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the windows 95 desktop and select CONTROL PANEL icon 2.3. Select ADD / REMOVE PROGRAMMES. 2.4. Select the WINDOWS SETUP tab. 2.5. Select the COMMUNICATIONS option within the COMPONENTS list. 2.6. Select the DIAL-UP NETWORKING option within the COMPONENTS list by checking on the WHITE BOX to the left. 2.7. Select the OK button and follow the on screen instructions. The COMMUNICATIONS box should be CHECKED. Go to details with COMMUNICATIONS highlighted and check that the DIAL-UP NETWORKING box is checked. 3. Making a "New Connection". 3.1. Select "MY COMUPTER" icon and double click on "DIAL-UP NETWORKING". 3.2. Double click on "MAKE NEW CONNECTION". 3.3. Type the name of the connection; Celestial Enterprises. 3.4. Select your modem from the drop down list if it is not already selected. 3.5. Click on "NEXT" 3.6. Select the area code "03" for Melbourne. 3.7. The Melbourne telephone number for Celestial Enterprises is "9724 9468". 3.8. Select the country code as "Australia" (61). 3.9. Select the NEXT button. 3.10. Select the FINISH button. 4. Configuring the "New Connection" properties. 4.1. Select the newly created CELESTIAL ENTERPRISES connection icon by clicking once with the mouse right button. 4.2. Select the "PROPERTIES" option. 4.3. Click on the "SERVER TYPE" tab. 4.4. Select the type of dial-up server as; "PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet". 4.5. Make sure ONLY the following options are selected: 4.5.1. Enable software compression. 4.5.2. TCP/IP 4.6. Click on the "TCP/IP Settings" button. 4.7. Make sure that the SERVER ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS is selected. 4.8. Make sure that the SPECIFY NAME SERVER ADDRESS is selected. 4.8.1. Specify PRIMARY DNS as 203.28.122.1. 4.8.2. Specify SECONDARY DNS as 139.130.4.5. 4.9. Select USE IP HEADER COMPRESSION. 4.10. Select USE DEFAULT GATEWAY ON REMOTE NETWORK. 4.11. Click OK. 5. Configuring the "New Connection" Server Type. 5.1. Select CELESTIAL ENTERPRISES icon by a slow right mouse click. 5.2. Select the PROPERTIES option from the drop down box. 5.3. At CONNECT USING, select CONFIGURE. 5.4. In the configure window, select OPTIONS. 5.5. Make sure that option "BRING UP TERMINAL WINDOW BEFORE DIALLING" is UNCHECKED. 5.6. Select and CHECK "BRING UP TERMINAL WINDOW AFTER DIALLING". 5.7. Click OK. 5.8. Click OK. 6. Install the Windows 95 TCP/IP Protocol. 6.1. Go to CONTROL PANEL. 6.2. Select NETWORK. 6.3. Click ADD. (If the Windows 95 TCP/IP protocol is already installed, you can go to "CONFIGURING TCP/IP INFORMATION" at step 7. 6.4. Click PROTOCOL, then click ADD. 6.5. Click (select) "MICROSOFT", then click (select) "TCP/IP". 6.6. Click OK. 6.7. Click " DIAL-UP ADAPTER", then click "PROPERTIES". 6.8. Click the BINDINGS tab and make sure the TCP/IP check box is CHECKED. 6.9. If prompted, RESTART your computer. Note; When you install TCP/IP, it is bound to all of your adapters by default. If you have a network card and don't use TCP/IP with it, you should go to properties for the network card, click the bindings tab and remove TCP/IP. 7. Configuring the TCP/IP Information. 7.1. Go to CONTROL PANEL and click on NETWORK. 7.2. Click TCP/IP (If there is more than one TCP/IP entry, click TCP/IP -> DIAL-UP ADAPTER), then click PROPERTIES. 7.3. On the IP ADDRESS tab, click "OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY". 7.4. On the BINDINGS tab, it is recommended that you clear the FILE AND PRINTER SHARING box. 7.5. Select the WINS CONFIGURATION tab. Select DISABLE WINS RESOLUTION 7.6. Select the GATEWAY tab. 7.7. In the NEW GATEWAY box, type 203.28.122.1 , click ADD. The DNS number is transferred to the installed gateway box. 7.8. Select the DNS CONFIGURATION tab 7.8.1. Select ENABLE DNS button. 7.8.2. Enter the HOST NAME 7.8.3. Enter the DOMAIN celestial.com.au 7.8.4. Enter the DNS SERVER SEARCH order 203.28.122.1 and click ADD. 139.130.4.5. and click ADD. 7.8.5. Enter the DOMAIN SUFFIX SEARCH ORDER celestial.com.au and click ADD. 7.9. Select OK. 7.10. The computer will now restart Windows 8. Dialling Celestial Enterprises. 8.1. Within the MY COMPUTER folder, double click on the DIAL-UP NETWORKING folder. 8.2. Double click on the CELESTIAL ENTERPRISES icon within the DIAL-UP NETWORK folder. 8.3. Insert your personal user name (your account name) into the USER name field (typically used for scripts). 8.4. Insert your personal password into the PASSWORD field (typically used for scripts). 8.5. Click on the CONNECT button. 8.6. Your modem should dial and connect to Celestial Enterprises. 8.7. A terminal (logon) screen will appear. 8.8. At the Voyager login prompt, specify your (personal user name ) as provided by Celestial Enterprises and press the ENTER key. If you are unsure of what this is, contact Celestial Enterprises.. 8.9. At the PASSWORD prompt, specify your . Again, check with Celestial Enterprises if you are unsure of what it is. As you type in the password, the cursor does NOT move. 8.10. When a @voyager[~] prompt appears, type in ppp and press ENTER again. 8.11. Then finally click on the continue button (or press F7). 8.12.
